Hi Carol,
Are you thinking about image category tags as used in sites like Flickr? This is not currently possible, but it is an interesting idea.

Hi Carol,
I wanted to follow-up here and mention that it's now possible to tag images with key words. There can be used to allow artists and visitors to search for artwork.
This new features is automatically available on all new sites, and is being added to existing sites. Here's more information on everything that's new:
